The Land Cruiser

Growing up, my Dad has always had an SUV. It al started with a scout, then a trouper, and then the idea of a landcruiser came in. Since then he has had 3 landcruisers. Because of this, we all developed the notion in our heads that the land cruiser was the coolest, manliest, vivacious, best thing to have. Even if the first one sounded like an oversized vacuum.

Well, a few weeks ago I was surprised when my brother called and mentioned that my dad had rolled away from the land cruiser brigade and had bought himself an FJ Cruiser. Now, I do not tell you this to rag on my dad about buying lots of cars. He does not buy things brand new- always finds a good deal and has always counseled us not to be dumb with our money, but to buy "Good, Used Cars." And he does the same as well.

After being stunned to learn this fact, he began asking around the family if anyone wanted the land cruiser. (to sell a current vehicle, that they could use the money to buy the land cruiser.) To my even great surprise, all 3 of my brothers turned down the offer. We did not. And look how happy it has made my family.

The first night it arrived, we found the closest dirt road, and went for a long, dirty, bumpy ride. And boy did it feel good. Eli especially feels like an awesome little man. He stares out the window at it, and begs daddy to take him for a "cruise". When Dj got home the day it was delivered, Eli said "Daddy, papa sent his land cruiser and its all yours!! its just for you!". and we have heard many times, in his imitated deep manly voice, "I like the land cruiser! its big and bumpy!"

I am excited too, though you don't get to see pictures of it. My favorite part? That we can fit 3 carseats in the back. We have two family vehicles now. Which means: family memories. Camping, hiking, mudding... maybe one day snorkeling. Yes, I am a cheese ball, but we have never been able to all get into Dj's truck- so it is a rather neat idea.
