Who is going to be the wardrobe?

A Halloween To Remember (honestly... do you forget something like this?)

We wanted to make the day special for the kids and try to create some family time traditions. So we started off by carving out pumpkin. We chose a super simple design so that our kids could help out as much as possible. We started pulling the goop out and both kids were willing to try it. Eli though it was disgusting, and instantly through the goop down. That was the end of his pumpkin cleaning for the night. So Annica single handedly cleaned out the rest, squished around and hung it in front of Eli, and made piles of it. I must say though that this was probably the cleanest pumpkin we have ever gutted. The was not a ton of goop, and what goop was in there was quite dry. The kids REALLY wanted to paint the pumkin. So once we finished carving it, they got to paint it. Doesn't it look pretty?

We wanted to do atleast one other fun activity for the kids. Anyone who knows us well, knows that we eat a lot of fruit in our house! So apple bobbing was a perfect activity for us! Of course, our kids have small mouths like most children do, so we decided to change the game a bit and do Apple Slice Bobbing. Annica caught on after a couple of tries and thought it was pretty fun! Eli thought it was incredibly fun getting his face wet, but he could not get an apple slice... until he cheated and used his hands.

The kids got to pick out their own costumes. Annica said that she needed to be something scary! So she chose to be a scary witch. Eli had his heart set on this lion costume the moment he saw it, and would not stray from it. And surprisingly, it wasn't until a few days ago when some one said, "Well who is going to be the wardrobe?"

We had a great time trick-or-treating. After every house Annica declared, "That was fun! I love trick-or-treating!" And Eli was the slowest, laziest lion, he had to explore everyones rocks and path lights. We lasted for about 12-15 houses, then the kids got cold and we headed home, where they enjoyed giving candy to the other kids who came by!

note: We you see in the picture above, our son made it outside to go trick-or-treating without shoes on. Don't worry... we realized it quickly and got him some shoes before we got too far. (woops!)

Happy Halloween!
