My Tough Boy

Eli's Birthday was on Friday. Two years ago he was born prematurely while we were on vacation visiting our families in Colorado. We are so glad to have him born to us. He spent 9 days in the hospital, we spent a few more in Colorado, and then got to take him to our home in Idaho.

We keep asking him "How old are you?" His reply is - "I Be two."
He also said things through the day like, "I birthday boy!" and "I eat for birthday!" and "I have ice cream later!" and "open presents now?" he felt oh so special and knew he was being spoiled that day.

His Birthday was spent making him feel special. We woke up and pulled the cushions off the couch, gathered pillows and made our own jumping area. We had a couple of face plants but no crying. He thought that was a blast. They got to play in the bathtub, and then they joined me to the Dollar Store where they got to pick out balloons for our party to come.

During nap-time, Annica helped me make a cake. Eli wanted a basketball cake, so thats what we did. It was pretty easy and turned out pretty cute too.

When Dj came home, the real festivities began. We showed Eli his cake and he LOVED it. All through dinner he asked everyone, "You like my basketball cake?" "Do you like it?" We had pizza, and then finally ate cake and ice cream. we tried to get a family picture with the cake and while we were setting that up eli stuck his face in.... Priceless! THen he giggled like crazy when we sang happy birthday to him and he got to blow out his candles. He thought it was so cool... and all for him! Thought he did share his cake and it was mostly yummy.

My kids are always spoiled with people sending presents from both sides of our family, so they wind up with more than they need and they love every minute of it! So thanks to everyone! Nearly every gift that he got had wheels on it. (Including clothing and books) Here are some pictures to commemorate the day! After each present he opened, he just wanted to play with it for a while. Present opening was very slow and filled with Annica asking if he was ready for another one over and over. He would just say, "no." Until she would finally ask if SHE could open one, and his answer was "yes."

Some of the things he received were, the movie Wall- E, a Thomas the Train set, a car track, some books and clothes, a tractor like papa's with a truck, and a roller coaster. (yes, really). Dj Also gave him a bunch of his old matchbox cars, and we still have plenty to give him for christmas as well.

We are so happy to have two beautiful and sweet children to bless our lives. Our little two year old is talking like crazy and always making us laugh with funny voices and silly grins and faces, and saying funny things. He is a little attached most days, which I do not mind because it makes me feel loved. He loves all things ball and truck and is a boy through hand through.

This is him when he was born, in caparison at one year, and in the same chair on his 2nd birthday. My how he has grown! We sure love our little Eli! Happy Birthday buddy!
